A growing surface designed for more than parking
The project created a grass-covered area that can support parking as well as additional community activities. GLWD supplied You Grow Girl, a compost-sand engineered topsoil manufactured at Pit 421, and provided trucking to the site during September and October 2024.
GLWD did not perform or manage the sitework. The project contractors handled placement, grading, installation, and the other construction work shown in the photographs.
Material selected against project specifications
The contractors independently tested the material supplied for this project against their specifications before use. That project-specific result should not be treated as a guarantee for another site or another batch.
Natural and recycled feedstocks can cause blend characteristics to vary from batch to batch. Contractors must independently sample and test current material to confirm it meets their project specifications. GLWD can also discuss custom blends for a project’s documented needs.
Grass establishing in winter
The January 2, 2025 photographs document grass establishing across the completed area during the winter months. They show this project at that point in time; site preparation, installation, seed or sod selection, irrigation, weather, traffic, and maintenance all affect results.
