Roll-off planning guide

Prepare for a roll-off dumpster

Choosing a container is only part of the plan. The debris, placement surface, truck access, loading method, and pickup route all affect safe service.

Confirm the debris first

Tell GLWD what you plan to load before selecting a container. Heavy materials can reach weight limits well before the dumpster looks full.

Choose a safe placement area

  • Use a firm, level location.
  • Leave enough room for the delivery truck to approach and safely place the container.
  • Consider overhead clearance, gates, parked vehicles, and soft ground.
  • Keep access clear for pickup or dump-and-return service.

Know the heavy-material rules

½ fullMaximum fill level for approved concrete
20 yardLargest container available for approved dirt or concrete
6 tonsEstimated safety threshold above which service may be refused

Avoid unsuccessful service

Blocked access, unsafe or overfilled containers, unapproved material, or other preventable conditions can stop service and may result in a $125 unsuccessful-trip fee.

All dates require confirmation. Standard and manure container work share a daily pool of 21 weekday tickets.
